Welcome to our
coverage of the 2011 BMW Championship golf tournament.
The BMW Championship is the second to the last FedExCup Playoff tournament with
a field of the top 70 final qualifiers trying to get into the last regular
season event at the Tour Championship in Atlanta to crowning the 2011 FedExCup
champion.
The 2011 tournament is back at Cog Hill in
Chicago for the third year in a row. The Chicago area has a storied
history of professional golf tournaments and was once the oldest tournament on
the PGA Tour hosting the Western Open held for 100 years in the Chicago
area. That tournament was displaced by this event starting in 2007.
There have been some great champions in Western Open past - a storied list that includes Walter
Hagen, Gene Sarazen, and Ben Hogan and more recently Tom Watson, Nick Price, and
Tiger Woods amongst many notable others.
The field for this year's BMW
Championship is 70 players 'winnowed down' from the 100 FedExCup qualifiers who
participated in last week's Deutsche Bank Championship.
Who will win the 2011 BMW Championship and
be among the final 30 qualifying from this tournament to participate in the
FedExCup final playoff tournament next week in Atlanta? -Stay Tuned
to CaddyBytes.com for that news along with our exclusive pictures, stories, and interviews, the week of the tournament!
