Welcome to
our tournament's page for the 2007 Barclays Classic
golf tournament on the PGA Tour! Westchester Country Club has been host
to a PGA Tour event for the past thirty plus years and this year it is the first
stop for the PGA Tours new FedExCup playoffs!
Westchester CC is an old
classic design and a players favorite. This tournament dates back to the
early to mid 1960's when it first hosted the Thunderbird Classic and then later
the Westchester Classic on the PGA Tour's schedule of events. It once
boasted the biggest purse in tournament golf offering the biggest first prize -
a whopping $50,000 going to winner Julius Boros in 1968.
Tiger Woods, (who has a huge lead in the FedExCup standings at the #1 position),
has decided not to play as the 144 player field will be comprised of qualifying
participants eligible to play this week based upon their FedExCup points
standings accumulated from the start of the 2007 PGA Tour season.
Who will win the Barclays and advance to next week's second round of the
FedExCup playoffs at the Deutsche Bank in Boston? Stay tuned to CaddyBytes
