Post 2006 AT & T Pebble Beach Pro Am Week
'Inside the Ropes' News:
The 2006 AT & T Pebble Beach National Pro Am is 'in the books' with tour
player Aaron Oberholser getting his first PGA Tour win here. 'OB' had
veteran caddy Dave Woosley on the bag in this their third season as
a team. Dave also won the 2002 Chrysler Tucson Classic on Ian Leggatt's bag
and also caddied for Danny Edwards and Chip Beck and caddied Beck's 59 in Vegas
in the 1990's.
Sunday saw a lot of high scores by prominent players over the Pebble Beach Links
on a sunny but blustery day in which the wind blew hard at times and swirled
making club selection difficult for player and caddy alike.
The celebrity contingent who made it to Sunday's final round included Emmett
Smith and Michael Bolton - who was in the hunt to win right up until
the last couple holes on Sunday. Michael Bolton had attended the Coretta
Scott King funeral in Atlanta where he sang there last week.
Bill Murray was the big hit as usual with a hole out of his third shot on
#18 at Pebble for an eagle three and his humor and regular interaction with the
gallery where ever he went. Actor Eric Close took the place of
Kevin James who had to withdraw due to the death of his father just prior to
this years event.
Veteran tour caddy Richard 'Jelly' Hansbury is recovering nicely after
experiencing chest pains in San Diego two weeks ago resulting in triple bypass
heart surgery. 'Jelly' was the regular caddy on Tim Petrovic's bag the
past few years.
