to CaddyBytes.com’s Tournament's page for
the 2013 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open golf tournament on the PGA Tour.
The tournament is being played over only one golf course and has been
reduced from a 90 hole pro am event to a 72 hole event now played only at the
remote and removed TPC at Summerlin golf course - in years past this was a big and often season ending
event alas now reduced to second tier and 'Fall Series' status. (The
tournament used to be played on three golf courses in the heart of the high
profile Las Vegas Strip.)
Justin
Timberlake's celebrity kept this tournament alive during the eco crash and now
is solely the Shriners Hospital for Children's Open golf tournament.
Here in 2013 this is now the old fall series event now reborn as the second
official FedExCup event of the new 2013-14 season which began at last week's
Frys.com in San Jose.
This event usually holds a big Monday and Wednesday Celebrity Pro Am hosted by Justin
Timberlake but the 72 hole tournament format is no longer played as a Pro -
Amateur event.
There have been some great champions in Las Vegas Invitational past including
Tiger Woods first win as a professional here in 1996 when the tournament was a
big three course 90 hole event. Ryan Moore will be defending here this
week at Summerlin.
