Welcome to
our tournament page for the 2007 Turning
Stone Resort Championship golf tournament
which begins the PGA Tour's new Fall Series of golf tournament events that
follow the official FedExCup schedule of events that end at the 2008 Tour
Championship.
Late season golf television ratings decline along with decline in the popularity of
tournament golf up against the big fall sports coverage of NFL
Football, the World Series, and College Football has created a 'Two Tiered' PGA
Tour tournament season.
The first tier ended last week at the Tour Championship in Atlanta. The FedExCup
was designed to keep the top names playing as
late into the year as possible. That objective was achieved with Tiger playing three out of the last four, and
winning the last two, and Mickelson winning also in that stretch and competing
in the Tour Championship last week which he ordinarily would skip.
This tournament is the first in that 'Second Tier' and called the 'Fall Series'
of PGA Tour tournaments - a series of 7 post FedExCup scheduled
events that begins this week at Turning Stone and ends at Disney World in the first week of November.
Two year's ago the B.C. Open, (now an official Champions Tour event), was shifted to
the Resort at Turning Stone from Endicott due to severe flooding. John
Rollins emerged as the first ever champion of this PGA Tour event held at
Turning Stone in 2006.
