Welcome to
our tournament page for the 2011 and now Champions Tour
Dick's Sporting Goods golf tournament
page! Formerly this was the site of the PGA Tour's Broome County Open golf tournament more commonly known as the
B.C. Open! The tournament was officially nixed from the PGA Tour's new
FedExCup schedule of events in 2007 and was reborn as a new senior tour event in 2008!
Endicott N.Y. and the En-Joie golf club have hosted the B.C.
Open as a 72 hole golf event on the PGA Tour since 1972.
The passing of Johnny Hart in the early Spring of 2007 also ends the association
of his name and comic strip character B.C. with this PGA Tour event.
However his legend lives on. Year's ago Johnny commissioned the
Professional Tour Caddies of America logo giving permission to use the B.C. golf
character as their namesake which it remains today.
The world of golf and PGA Tour and Champions Tour and more importantly the
caddies are mourning the passing of tournament host Alex Alexander. Alex
was the guy who put the tournament together way back since it's inception and
was a dear friend of the caddies.
The PTCA (Professional Tour Caddies of America) 2010 Caddy Classic was played in
Texas between the Byron Nelson and Colonial tournaments as the demographics no
longer allowed the tournament to be played at the B.C. Open (now Dick's Sporting
Goods Open) Enjoie G.C. host golf course. And those events are forever
known as the Alex Alexander Caddy Classic in honor of his memory.
There have been some regional and notable former champions of the B.C. Open
including Hubert Green, Tom Kite, Calvin Peete, Mike Hulbert, Joey Sindelar,
Fred Couples, and John Daly to name a notable few.
R.W. Eaks won the inaugural Champions Tour Dick Sporting Goods Open in 2007 and
Eduardo Romero won it in 2008, Lonnie Neilson in '09, and Loren Roberts will be defending here in
2011.
