Welcome
to CaddyBytes.com’s Tournament's page for
the 2008 Wyndham Championship at Greensboro golf tournament. Formerly the
GGO
(Greater Greensboro Open).
The old Greater Greensboro Open used to be played in the spring the week before
the Masters. The GGO had some
great history dating back to it's inception in 1938 with the late Sam Snead emerging
as the inaugural winner -a tourney Snead won a record total of eight
times.
This region's annual golf tour event has survived the 'cut' to the FedEX Cup Series
of events last year and is now called the Wyndham Championship at Greensboro.
This is the last week that FedExCup points can be earned and finishing in the
top 144 of the FedExCup points system will enable those players to qualify to
play the next four weeks beginning next week at Barclays and culminating at the
Tour Championship in Atlanta to determine the 2008 FedExCup champion!
The host golf course in the past has been Forest Oaks Country Club but is
now being played at a new 'old' revamped Sedgefield Country Club home to many
early Greensboro Opens of the past.
