Welcome to CaddyBytes.com’s Tournament's page for the 2008 Verizon Heritage Classic golf tournament played at the Pete Dye designed Harbour Town golf links on Hilton Head Island, SC.

This tournament has been around since 1969 after Pete Dye built the tricky Harbour Town golf links on this now well know resort island.  Arguably Pete Dye's best early work -the Harbour Town golf links were cut out of virgin intercostal terrain.

Many of the golf holes are surrounded by their characteristic jet black brackish ponds and large dark 100 year old Spanish Oak trees.  Add in the abundant gray Spanish Moss hanging from the oak trees, and white sandy soil against the backdrop of green fairways and greens, and you capture a Mystique reminiscent of Robert Trent Jone's west coast counterpart -the hilly Spyglass Hill golf club.

Arnold Palmer won the first Heritage Golf Classic in 1969.  Other notable winners include Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Johnny Miller, Greg Norman, and the late Payne Stewart, and Davis Love who for a long stretch of time virually 'owned' this place.  Boo Weekley is the defending champion here in 2008.
