The Mayakoba Classic is in it's sixth year here in 2012 at Riviera Maya-Cancun Mexico. The tournament began in 2007 due to the advent of the FedExCup and loss of the old Tucson Open (50 years of history there on the PGA Tour), and with the advent of the WGC-Match Play moving to Tucson as the last tournament on the West Coast Swing. This tournament is being played concurrently with that World Tour event in Tucson and is where the 'rest of the PGA Tour is playing this week. The tournament is being played on the Greg Norman designed El Camaleon golf club - which is the first course in Mexico to host an official PGA Tour event. Lorena Ochoa is playing in the pro am on Wednesday and this year's event features a pretty strong field - highlighted by Greg Norman, 2012 European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabel, & Nick Price all playing this week. Previous champions include, Fred Funk in '07', Brian Gay in '08', Mark Wilson in '09', Beckman in '10, & Johnson Wagner in '11..
