Vaughn Taylor captured his first PGA TOUR Champions victory by defeating Alex Cejka on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff at the Ocean Course at Hammock Beach Golf Resort & Spa. Taylor and Cejka completed 54 holes tied at 17-under 199.
CaddyBytes 🏆 Final-Round Recap: Taylor began the final round at 13 under and charged into the lead with five consecutive birdies to begin the back nine. A costly three-putt bogey at the par-3 17th dropped him back to 17 under, opening the door for Cejka and overnight contender Michael Wright.
Cejka answered with a closing birdie at the 18th to complete a 7-under 65 and join Taylor at 17 under. Wright remained in the championship chase until a double bogey at the final hole dropped the Australian to 16 under and sole possession of third place.
Taylor and Cejka matched pars on their first extra trip down the 18th. On the second playoff hole, Taylor produced the decisive birdie to secure the championship and his first win on the PGA TOUR Champions.
Behind the playoff pair, Ryan Armour, Ángel Cabrera, Ben Crane, Matthew Goggin and Rod Pampling shared fourth place at 15 under. Paul Goydos, Tag Ridings and Kevin Sutherland finished another shot back in a tie for ninth.
