CaddyBytes 🏆 2026 PURE Insurance Championship Round 1 Recap: Y.E. Yang took control of the opening round at Pebble Beach Golf Links with a bogey-free, 8-under-par 64. Yang made eight birdies, finished one stroke shy of the tournament's 18-hole scoring record and carried a three-shot lead into Saturday. Ryan Armour opened with a 5-under 67 at Pebble Beach to claim second place. Tim O'Neal matched Ernie Els at 4-under 68, with O'Neal posting his score at Spyglass Hill and Els producing his at Pebble Beach. Henrik Stenson, Harrison Frazar, Steven Alker, Gordon Burns and Zach Johnson formed the next group at 3-under 69. The two-course rotation remains an important part of the 36-hole picture. Every player will have completed one round at Pebble Beach and one at Spyglass Hill before the professional and First Tee junior fields are reduced for Sunday's final round at Pebble Beach. Saturday's early scoring immediately tightened the chase: Armour moved to 7-under through 13 holes, Vijay Singh surged to 6-under through nine and Yang remained the leader at 8-under before beginning his second round.
