CaddyBytes ⛳ 2026 Rocket Classic Round 2 Highlights: Cameron Young fired a spectacular 9-under 61 Friday at Detroit Golf Club to surge into a three-way tie for the 36-hole lead at 10-under 130. Young shares the top spot with Patrick Cantlay and Patrick Fishburn, who each followed opening-round 64s with 4-under 66s. Rickie Fowler and Matt Wallace are only one shot back at 9-under 131 heading into the weekend.
The second round produced another steady stream of birdies and highlight-reel moments across the restored par-70 layout. Ryan Gerard briefly joined the leaders at 10-under before finishing with a 69, Michael Kim rolled in a long birdie at the par-3 15th, and Matt Kuchar supplied the day’s signature shot with a hole-in-one at the par-3 fifth. Jackson Koivun carried momentum into Detroit by playing his opening nine in 31, while Fowler continued to create scoring chances with confident iron play and sharp work around the greens.
First-round leader Peter Malnati cooled with a 1-over 71 after Thursday’s 61, but remains firmly in the tournament at 8-under. He is joined in the large tie for sixth by Michael Brennan, Ryan Gerard, Doug Ghim, Michael Kim, Chris Kirk, Davis Riley, and Xander Schauffele. Keegan Bradley closed with back-to-back birdies at 17 and 18 to move to 7-under, while Patrick Fishburn’s touch around the par-5 14th and Adam Schenk’s birdie-birdie finish added to a crowded leaderboard that leaves the Rocket Classic wide open entering Saturday.
