Here's a 2002 Booz Allen 'Winning
Caddy Interview':
|
Welcome to CaddyBytes.com's tournament's page for the
2010 AT & T National golf tournament. This year's
AT & T National - was formerly the now defunct and former Kemper Open/Booz Allen greater
Washington D.C. tour stop. The greater Washington D.C. and Potomac MD area have hosted a PGA Tour event
since 1968 with the TPC Avenel the host golf course since 1987. Booz Allen
had been the host sponsor since 2003.
The Washington D.C. area was as dead in the water for a playing spot as a single payer health
care plan lobbyist when Tim Finchem's new Dialing for Corporate Dollars 'Nascar'
FedExCup modeled schedule revealed itself at the end of the 2006 PGA Tour season -
leaving the D.C. area completely out of the PGA Tour's 'new' schedule of events and in their
rear view mirror. Then Jack Vickers and The International threw a greased
monkey wrench into the seasons first turn when they pulled out of the race later
that Spring.
The PGA Tour then rushed a new entrant out of the pit stop and
suddenly Washington D.C. was back in the race becoming the new AT & T
National and invitational tournament replacing the spot rebuked by Vickers.
Since then and here in 2010 AT & T has dumped Tiger (now post scandal) and
the tournament is being played at the Aronomink G.C. in Newton PA. as
Congressional is being readied for next year's 2011 U.S. Open. This year's
tournament is still being held near the nations capital to coincide with the 4th
of July festivities.
There have been some great champions in Kemper Open and Booz Allen past
including Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, Tom Weiskopf, Craig Stadler, and up and
comers Adam Scott and Sergio Garcia to name a notable few.
Tiger Woods won the 2009 AT & T National along with 6 other tournaments but
no majors. Can Tiger even the score and at least be able to silence his
golfing critics with a victory this week? Stay tuned here to get the latest
news, stories, live scoring and interviews all week for this year's 2010 AT
& T National golf tournament!
